They are not very large or showy.
They make a high-pitched metallic sounding chirp,
which can be irritating to the ears.
When they fly in a group,
you often hear them
before looking up and seeing them
pass overhead.

You can hear the Cedar Waxwings' high-pitched calls,
as well as some other birds.
The other loud noises are the wind,
and also the traffic on the highway.

Back again, this time to feed on apple blossoms.
He (or she) looks quite handsome in the evening sun.

Looks like he owns the tree!
Their plumage seems to be more colourful than in April.
The goldfinches also feast on the blossoms.

And a purple finch.....
.....also a male, enjoys the same treat.
